Last Sunday I made brunch and had some friends over. I bought this Spumante to make mimosas. I don't really like champagne, so I often grab some Prosecco, Spumante or Asti to make my mimosas.
The price for the bottle was $10.99.
Ratings A - F, A = best; F = worst
Smell the wine: A - Fruity and fresh!
Taste the wine: A - Not too sweet, very delicate sparkle, delicious and fresh.
Did you enjoy it: A
Would I buy this again? Absolutely
Comments: I loved this. I didn't even add orange juice to make this into a mimosas, I just drank it straight up! It was so yummy and fresh.

PS notice Gus, the kitty, in the window on that last photo? Cute.

Blowing off Steam

I've been so sad lately not knowing when the govt shutdown will be over and I can finally start working. Some people are saying it'll be over in 2 weeks, some say January.  Andy came home and recognized how I was feeling and said "let's go skateboarding".  We went down to the lake walk and had some fun. I really felt better when we got home.

About a year ago Andy taught me how to stake on a long board. It's actually really easy. I don't go very fast, but I go fast enough to get scared!!

PS I convinced Andy to do a mowhawk when he shaved his head. It's fun.

Comments: Good wine. A little too "bold" for me. Nice berry flavors.

Going to the Library

One great thing about our new space is how close we are to the library! I have an English degree, so I am predisposed to nerdom. Anyway, while I wait for the govt shutdown to end, I have been busy reading some great books. I just finished "Girl, Interrupted" by Susanna Kaysen, after watching the movie again. The movie is so great, and the book is equally great. The book is pretty different from the movie, which makes this probably the best book turned to movie I've ever read/seen.

Cribbage and Pesto

Tonight Andy and I lit some candles, poured a nice glass of white wine, turned some music on low...and played cribbage!!
Andy made an edamame pesto recipe we found here, it was pretty good! He used whole wheat fettucine instead of spinach linguine, so we added some spinach to the pasta to compensate.  I steamed some broccoli, baked some bread and made my favorite dipping sauce: tons of minced garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper.  The key to mincing garlic is to chop it up first, then pour a bit of salt over it and use the flat side of the knife to smash the garlic. It really brings out the flavor. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it!
I re-taught Andy how to play cribbage recently, and tonight he beat me!
